Marie Laveau 5 ML Perfume Oil

$21.00

Notes: dragon’s blood incense, the ingredients for an abundance charm: orange, clove, cinnamon, basil, bay leaf, Spanish moss and cypress knees, water from Lake Pontchartrain, a sprinkle of graveyard dirt

Our Marie Laveau perfume oil celebrates the mystical life of the Voodoo Queen of New Orleans and the city that was her home. She was revered not only for her magic and spiritual rites, but for her altruistic work for New Orleans’ poor, which included herbal remedies for the sick, prayer with death row inmates, and financial support of the community.

Inspired by the unique environs of New Orleans and the herbs and incense that might have been used in a Voodoo ritual for abundance, our perfume oil opens with a burst of citrus, spice, and dragon’s blood incense. A mysterious heart reminiscent of an herbalist’s cabinet follows, and the drydown wraps you in the bewitching combination of dragon’s blood resin, cypress, and lake water.

Please Note (so that you are not surprised or dismayed): The apothecary bottle we use for our 5 ml size holds over 7 ml. We fill them with over 5 ml of perfume, but there is still room left in the bottle. So upon first glance you may think a terrible error has occurred, but all the perfume you bought is in there, we promise.

The image featured was previously attributed as a portrait of Marie Laveau, but is now known to be an unidentified Creole woman in a tignon. There is no known portrait of Marie Laveau, unfortunately.
